A Christmas House!

That magical time of year has come again! Since we spent last Christmas in the Dominican Republic, we were a little short on evergreen trees, snow, Christmas cookies, and lights. We are doing our best to make up for it this year! Steven was very little help, since he left all his ornaments behind in Minnesota... Between my decorations, a couple thrift store runs, and the generosity of a couple at our church I think we have done quite well for our first Christmas! Here are a few of my favorite Christmas things:

The first batch of Christmas cookies!

A little bear tin adds some Christmas to the kitchen counter.

This was so fun! I put the centerpiece together for our Advent by Candlelight.

We finally have pictures on our walls! Just in time for the holidays.

This is a combination of thrift store finds (bowl and garland), a rummage sale purchase(green ornaments), and small ornaments given by a couple at church.

A few other things setting around. :)

Our tree is taller than Steve, even though it doesn't look it here. Christmas tree pictures always end up so disappointing. They never capture the real life beauty.

My stocking... guess Steve doesn't get one this year since it's still in Minnesota...

More pretty things.

Would you believe this candle is actually a smoky green color?

A cute little thrift store buy.
We are also very busy with school and church things. Steve is doing most of the work for the kid's Christmas program. Steve plays for a funeral this Saturday and we will both play for a memorial service at the beginning of the new year (two elderly members of the congregation). We will be singing in church with the choir and by ourselves. This Friday evening is ALA's Christmas program. Somehow we need to fit in a little shopping, too! The excitement of the birthday celebration of our Lord keeps us going, though we are eager for our break- a trip to the Midwest!

  1. I am afraid I take the blame for Steven's ornaments still being in MN, they forgot to get on the Uhaul. It is possible they were subconsciously left behind...his stocking?? really?? I have to give that up too?
I love your angel. Ours looks a bit sad after all these years, it could be because the special "Steven" ornament is hanging on a Sveen tree this year instead of mine. No worries, I'll be fine, just me and my bare naked tree. (That would make a great country western song)
Maybe you should bring extra luggage to get your ornaments and gifts home. Can't wait to see you both! Love the pictures!!

  2. It almost looks like you could be in MN or WI, with that great tree! I love it all.

  3. Amy, I love your decorations! I couldn't pack any ornaments for fear of shattering them in my suitcase. So our Christmas decorations amount to two stockings and a quilt square wall hanging of Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus my aunt made for me.

  4. You have definitely sprinkled Christmas all over the place. :) The fully furnished house we live in this year had 7 trees in the basement (2 outdoor, 1 large, 2 medium fiber optic, and 2 small) and lots of ornaments and gaudy lovely things. I put up 3 of the trees and some big dishes full of ornaments on random tables (as there are a lot of random tables too). I'm counting my festive blessings this year, but I'm fully prepared to go back to our 2' silver fakey fiber optic tree I got for free next year.
We hope to see you if you have a day free! I wouldn't mind meeting halfway or something, either.

  5. Wow! Your home looks great in its Christmas finery. I could even spot a few of my favorite "Amy's ornaments" that I will be missing when we finally get our tree. Wish I could come and see it all in real life!!
